Backyard Fun!

We had a little early summer today!  Mommy made a waterslide for us!

It was fast!

I couldn't quit laughing when I slid on the grass!

Mommy wasn't too happy when she came outside and saw this and she was even more unhappy with us when she came out the next time and we were standing on this. She didn't get a picture of that because it would have been too unsafe to allow us to stand for a picture.  We had a great day introducing Lily to our backyard summer fun.  We cannot wait for the pool to get hot enough to use!  Tomorrow Lily will have her first swim lesson with us!  We know she will love it!

Dentist for Lily and Desert Fun!

w

Well we had the dreaded Dentist Visit.  You may recall that in China we were really worried about Lily's dental health.  It seemed that the only dental hygiene that she had was the use of a toothpick.  And while she was quite handy with it we could see little black marks on her teeth that we assumed were cavities.  The first night we brushed her teeth her gums were bleeding.  That was the only time though that they bled.  We have been faithful in brushing and Lily love to brush her teeth.  So we visited the Dentist on Wednesday.  Lily did great getting her x=rays and her teeth cleaned.  Apparently since we have had her all of the black stains are gone and she has no cavities!  But, she does have two teeth where the enamel did not develop properly so one will require a crown since it is on a molar that she will not lose until she is twelve and it could develop a cavity and the other is a much smaller spot just below the one on top and it will need a small filling to keep it safe from developing into a cavity.  The Dentist said that he saw no signs of decay on any teeth or between teeth!  Praise the Lord!!!! We will make two visits to the dentist since he does not want to do them at the same time.

The same day we also took her to our Pediatrician.  You may recall we took her to the International Adoption Dr. and she was just lacking in her Hep. A shot and a second Chicken Pox.  We got the Hep A shot and will get the second next year and we will get the second Chicken Pox next year.  She was a little low in iron so we will get that checked again after she has been home a couple of months.  Health wise she is doing great!  She likes to eat and loves fruit.  She is not afraid to try new foods and will let us know if she does not like the taste of it.  She does not like milk just like Emma and Meilynn but she likes yogurt.  She is not interested in Cheese at all.  She is only in the 5-10% for height and only 5% for weight.  She seems tall to us but I think that is because Emma and Meilynn are also short.  She also has long legs that make her look taller too.

Ocotillo Wells

This was Lily's second trip to the desert and you can already see her improvement in her riding skills.  She loves going in the motorhome and this time was even more special because her cousin Brooke who is only a little over four months older than her was there.  We got to keep Brooke in our motorhome for one night which was a great chance for Lily to be around someone her own age.  The girls had a great time!

You know 4 year olds and potty humor.  Here they had to match the poop with the right animal.

The girls had a great time and learned a lot.

Happy Birthday Grandma Nall

This last weekend we went to Phoenix to help Mike's Grandma celebrate her 99th birthday!  She is an amazing woman who is an inspiration to me.  While we were there we got to see Meghan our second daughter and her husband Nick.  They are living in Phoenix so it was a good chance to also spend time with them and see their apartment and their new dog, Max.

We left late on Friday afternoon with the intention that the girls would be asleep for some of the long drive.  We stopped in Blythe for dinner and then changed the girls into jammies.  The girls were really good on the ride there.  Emma and Meilynn are not very good in the car, but we only heard, "It's taking too long" a few times as opposed to the usual 20-30 times.  The girls were asleep when we arrived at the hotel so we carried them up and they were off to dreamland.

On Saturday we met up with Meghan and Nick and spent time with them.  Meghan went with us to the Science Museum.  Lily did great with all of the changes.  We are a family on the move and she handled it all very well.  We spent the afternoon at the museum and then we ate at Meghan and Nick's favorite little Thai food place.  Thai food is always a winner with our girls.

On Sunday we went to Meghan and Nick's church.  The girls all went to the Sunday School.  When I think of the first year home with Emma and Meilynn and staying that year with them in the Nursery I can see how far we have come that we could leave them in a place they had never been before with people they didn't know and they did just fine.  Lily went in the same class with them.  We didn't feel that she should be left alone so soon.

On Sunday afternoon we went to Grandma's party.

She still has it!
We tried and tried to get a family picture with Grandma. We never did get it right.  You cannot even see Emma in this one.  She is behind Lily's head.

You still cannot see Emma

I think this was the closest one to working out.  Lily is not smiling and Emma has attitude.

This morning Lily had her first bubble bath.
