Day 5, 6, and 7! One week down!

Lets start out with this one!  Meilynn has had her two front teeth loose for weeks and weeks.  Unlike her sisters, she does not want her teeth to come out.  They were so loose I was afraid she was going to swallow them.  Here she is after getting one out.  We just had to have a picture of her with one front tooth.

And here she is with both out.  I love the look!

I also want to keep updating things that I missed when I was not getting my blogging done.   Yes, daddy really did this.  Our house is full of motorcycle riders now!  We may have the first all girl supercross team.

And here are a few with Daddy giving instruction.  They all love it.  Jilliana is too small for the motorcycle but she loves riding the quad all over the place.

Today Jilliana went to her friend's birthday party.  It was at the place that Emma does her gymnastics.  We had to say no to burritos and cake.  We did have vegetables and fruit!  And I also brought snacks.  Afterwards we went to Jamba Juice where they have a smoothie that is fresh squeezed juice and fruit only.  You have to be careful though, because there are many others there that would not work with our 100 day pledge.

On Friday, Meilynn and I were in San Francisco.  I had looked ahead for a restaurant that was organic and served real foods.  We were successful with a place called Soup Freaks.  It was really good and was so nice to not have to do dishes.

I made more granola.  Everyone loves it!!!!  I think I will have to make double batches so I am not making it so much.
I made  lentil soup.  I  have never made it before.  I was not sure how the girls were going to do with it. We served it with a little dollop of sour cream, red pepper, and cilantro on it.  Everyone loved it except Meilynn.  The recipe called for kale.  I have never used kale before.  I wasn't even sure what it was.
It looked like this before the food processor.

And like this after.  I was afraid to add it to the soup, because I tasted the soup already and it seemed ok.  I looked up kale on the internet and it turns out that it is this powerhouse food.  I can't remember everything I read, but it has calcium, iron, vitamin K, vitamin A, anti-inflamatory properties?, cancer prevention etc. etc.  Am I the only person who has never heard of this?  So I added it and it was good.  I think I will be sneaking it in a lot of our foods.
 Jilliana making shaved ice.
 Emma enjoying a homemade poptart.

Yes, whole wheat pop tarts.  They were really good!  We won't be having them very much though.  They use a whole stick of butter and they take as much time to make as a pie.
Sunday night we had the lentil soup leftovers.  Meilynn did much better with the lentil soup after I added a dollop of guacamole.
 Jilliana loves the soup
And the biscuits were yummy and very easy!  I have tried and tried to make biscuits that look like this.

Well we made it!  One week down!  I miss spray butter on my popcorn.  But I guess I should call it spray chemicals.  The week went better than I expected.  I need to find something to drink.  The water is not doing it for me.  I am learning how important it is to  plan and I really think I need to make double of everything so I am not spending so much time cooking.  I think that will get better as we learn what we like and don't like.  I thought I was a really good label reader, but now my whole family is becoming expert.  Today when we were at Jamba Juice, Meilynn pointed to some snacks and said, "Mommy we can have those!"  I said, how do you know?  She said because I read the label.  They only have apples and cinnamon in them."  (They were freeze dried apples)  I told her she was right and I was so proud of her for reading the label.  I think the most amazing thing is how the girls have done.  They are so committed!  We have made a 100 day countdown chart for each girl.  Each night they color a square for each day that we are on the 100 day plan.
On to day 8!

That soup looks really good. Never had lentils and not sure if we'd like it, but would love to try. Would you mind sharing the recipe? And maybe the one for the granola & pop tarts, too. I'm working hard on providing healthier options for my family and love reading about how you're making it work for yours.

Vicki...have you tried Life Water? It's really good tasting and it only has maltetol as a sweetener, which is natural sugar alcohol. It is not an artificial sweetener. Also, you can get mint flavored chlorofil online at Nature's Sunshine, which is delicious in your water and provides lots of good stuff that you find in green vegies. Just FYI. Hope you find something good to drink soon. I know what that's like. I'm so proud of you all for doing this diet improvement. Hope it lasts longer than 100 days...for the health benefits. :)
