Two Little Special Girls meet again on the other side of the Ocean

Something very special is going to happen this week.  Two little girls that grew up together as sisters and best friends in an orphanage on the other side of the world will meet again after 6 months apart.  I am so excited that I will get the chance to take Lily to see Lyla.  We will take a plane and Lily knows about it but it will be a surprise for Lyla.  We don't know how the girls will react.  Lily has never spoken Cantonese or Mandarin since we left China.  She seemed only to happy to leave it all behind except for her friend Lyla and an occasional mention of her caretaker, Pin Ye?

Lily and Lyla, the first picture we saw of her.  It was actually a video

Saying goodbye to Lyla and friends at the visit to Yangjiang, Guangdong  Lyla's parents came to get her the very next week.  I can only wonder how it must have been for Lyla after her best friend Lily left.

And today I got a picture of Lily that we had never seen before.  The mother of the girl to the right of Lyla sent it to me.  It is a picture that was on a camera that was sent to the orphanage for their little daughter.  While there they met their picking up their small daughter they met their soon to be daughter.  She will be going soon to pick up this sweet girl whom she met while getting her daughter.  And the boy on the left.  He will be home very soon too.  And he will live less than an hour from us!

Isn't my Lily beautiful.  We cherish every picture that we can get of her.  We want her to have pictures of all the stages that we missed.  These will be so important to her someday.

I told my friend that sent this that Lily looked at the picture and said, "That is not me."  She doesn't even recognize herself there.  I told my friend that is so sad that she has really just left everything behind and doesn't even want to place herself there.  My friend had a beautiful reply that put tears in my eyes.  She said,

I smiled when I read that Lily doesn't believe that's her.  Reason?  It isn't her anymore.  She is a Poma and she apparently knows it!  :-)
